Gary Campbell

+ About the Artist

Gary Campbell operates a Calgary-based photography studio where an eclectic variety of assignments bring him around the globe from the far reaches of Canada’s arctic to remote areas of South America, Indonesia, Kazakhstan—and most recently, Papua New Guinea. It was early in Campbell’s professional life as a bush pilot, flying free-aid in the jungles of Peru, that he first encountered Indigenous peoples and was drawn to view their lives and culture through the lens of his camera. Twenty years later, while on assignments for his commercial studio work, Campbell has the privilege of revisiting these remote areas and people to capture their portraits and stories.
