Bénédicte Dussère

+ About the Artist

Creating with a pallet comprised solely of black, Bénédicte Dussère creates sweeping compositions of light and shadow from her Parisian studio. Dussère uses Mylar or a custom blend of polyester and linen to achieve a remarkably smooth surface texture. Applying minimal amounts of oil paint with deliberate gestures and using modified or handmade tools gives her images velvety depth. Dussère ventures to capture a sense of the ephemeral in the surface of her paintings.
