Opening Reception: Saturday, Dec. 6, 1 - 4 pm
Christine Klassen Gallery is pleased to present a trio of mini shows introducing new gallery artists Sean William Randall, Patricia Macdonald and Lori Lukasewich.
Sean William Randall: Country Down
Regina-based painter Sean William Randall imagines a prairie landscape rife with dark humour and excitement in his new series Country Down. This series playfully subverts the landscape genre by depicting life-sized Hot Wheels flying over tranquil prairie scenes in a blaze of glory.
Originally trained as an architect, Randall has been painting for more than twenty years, and is known for his beautiful application of paint and quirky take on traditional subjects. His work has been exhibited widely across Canada where it can also be found in numerous prominent private and public collections.
Patricia MacDonald and Lori Lukasewich
United by their shared interest in everyday objects, MacDonald and Lukasewich’s representational paintings shine a new light on our domestic treasures.
Based in the Gulf Islands in British Columbia, Patricia Macdonald aims to project a sense of irony and whim into her paintings which oscillate between the banal, romantic, beautiful and unsettling. Macdonald studied art at The School of Visual Arts in New York and Emily Carr University in Vancouver and has shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions across Canada.
Local realist painter Lori Lukasewich’s work can be linked back to that of the old Masters as well as the practice of meditation. Her paintings often contain an ethereal light and singular focus that is at once calming and pleasurable. Lukasewich attended the Alberta College of Art and has an extensive exhibition record spanning almost thirty years.
