Michael Schreiner

Michael Schreiner creates tightly structured and calculated pathways of line that challenge the viewer’s sight and sense of perception. Upon prolonged observation Schreiner’s compositions flicker with options and thus contain multiple realities and truth within the single image, all of equal relevance. Hans Hofmann, who advocated colour is figure, heavily influences Schreiner’s use of colour. Preferring to use paint directly from the tube, Schreiner’s palettes reference moments in history and arouse feelings of remembrance.
